Grommet-top panels feature large metal rings that slide effortlessly along standard rods, creating modern, evenly-spaced folds. Rod pocket curtains have a sewn channel at the top that gathers fabric onto the rod for a classic, full appearance.
Tab-top styles thread directly onto decorative rods through fabric loops, showcasing your rod as part of the design. Pinch pleat drapes use traditional pleating with hook pockets for traverse rods and formal installations. Each hanging style affects how the fabric drapes and the overall look of your windows.
Measuring for the Perfect Fit
Proper measurements ensure your curtains hang beautifully and provide the coverage you need. Start by measuring your window width from trim to trim, then add 8 to 12 inches on each side for panels to stack back when open. For a fuller look that creates elegant folds, choose curtain panels with a combined width 1.5 to 2 times your window width.
Length measurements depend on your desired look. For standard sill-length curtains, measure from the rod to just below the window sill. For floor-length panels, measure from the rod to about half an inch above the floor to prevent dragging. For a dramatic pooling effect, add 2 to 4 inches beyond floor length.

Curtain Shopping Questions
For standard 8-foot ceilings, 84-inch curtain panels work best for floor-length coverage when hung 4 to 6 inches above the window frame. If your windows are shorter or you want sill-length coverage, choose 63-inch panels. For higher ceilings or windows taller than 6 feet, opt for 95 or 96-inch panels.
Measure from where your rod will mount down to your desired endpoint. Floor-length curtains should end about half an inch above the floor to prevent dragging and wear.
For a standard window up to 36 inches wide, one pair (two panels) of 52-inch-wide curtains provides adequate coverage with proper fullness. For windows 37 to 72 inches wide, use two pairs (four panels) to achieve the recommended 1.5 to 2 times fullness ratio.
Wider windows or sliding doors require additional panels. Measure your window width and multiply by 1.5 to 2, then divide by the individual panel width to determine how many panels you need.
Most of our polyester curtain panels, including our grommet blackout panels, rod pocket sheers, and cotton-blend styles, are machine washable. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle and tumble dry on low heat.
Velvet panels, specialty fabrics, and curtains with decorative embellishments require dry cleaning only. Always check the care label on your specific curtain style before washing. Remove panels while slightly damp and rehang immediately to minimize wrinkles.
Our triple-weave blackout curtain panels block 99% of incoming light when properly installed. For complete light blocking, ensure your curtain rod extends several inches beyond the window frame on each side, and choose panels with adequate width to eliminate gaps when closed.
Some light may seep around the edges where the curtain meets the wall. For total darkness, consider installing a wrap-around rod or adding blackout liners. The small amount of edge light is normal and doesn’t diminish the panels’ effectiveness for sleep and privacy.
Grommet curtains feature large metal rings at the top that slide directly onto your curtain rod, creating evenly-spaced, modern folds. They’re easy to open and close and work with standard round rods.
Rod pocket curtains have a sewn fabric channel at the top. You thread the rod through this pocket, creating gathered fabric with a more traditional, full appearance. Rod pocket styles typically stay in place and work best for curtains you don’t open and close frequently.
We accept returns on unused curtain panels in original packaging with tags attached within 90 days of purchase with your receipt. Opened packages may be returned if the curtains haven’t been altered, washed, or hung.

Most of our ready-made curtain panels include only the panels themselves. Grommet-top curtains are ready to hang on your rod without additional hardware. Pinch pleat drapes require separate drapery hooks, which are sold separately in our window treatment hardware section.
Decorative tiebacks, holdbacks, and curtain clips are available as separate accessories. This allows you to customize your window treatment with hardware that matches your specific style preferences and decor.
